AMBASSADOR AIME CHAIRMAN GEOFF LOVELL, STRUTS THE STREETS

Story

Strutter Category: Boardie Boys

Why Strut? I was an inaugural Strutter in 2010. As a middle-aged CBD worker, I was terrified of being spotted by my workmates (or anyone else) walking through the city smuggling by budgy. However, my concerns largely dissipated when I was able to hide amongst hundreds of other strutters who were so much better to look at than me. I then found 2011 much easier but vowed that would be my last strut. Yet such are the persuasive powers of AIME and the importance of educating our Indigenous kids that here I am as a Strut the Streets Ambassador in 2012!

Simply, if I can strut then so can you, particularly with the new “Boardie Boys” option in 2012. If you still hesitate, your ransom can be paid by sponsoring me generously.

Please support this fun event and the important cause of supporting our Indigenous kids to believe in themselves and their ability to finish high school at the same rate as all Australian kids. Our great country will be so much better for it.

AIME - Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience

AIME works around Australia providing mentoring and educational services.

AIME engages over 2,000 Indigenous high school students and 1,000 university students across Australia. Our workforce is over 1000 volunteer university students from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Our goal is for all of our students to complete school and progress to university at the same rate as all Australians. For students not progressing to university we target 100% transition to further study or employment. In 2013 AIME engaged over 2,000 Indigenous high school students and 1,000 university students across Australia and our goal is to reach 10,000 by 2018.
AIME has proven to dramatically improve the chances of Indigenous kids finishing school. Our current group of year 11 students progressed from year 10 to year 11 at a higher rate than their non-Indigenous peers! Together with our Mentors and Mentees, AIME is building a generation of future leaders who strive to create a culture where for every step you take forward in life, you throw your hand back and bring someone with you.

Connect with AIME on Facebook, TwitterYouTube and the AIME Website.
